Swiss Online Garantie
A Swiss seal based on a binding, audited catalogue of criteria.
What this seal checks
catalogue of criteria across 7 areas
- Imprint/contact: company per the commercial register, a Swiss phone number, reachable from any page in one click
- Truthful product descriptions, no counterfeits, a transparent checkout
- The full final price incl. VAT in line with the Price Indication Ordinance
- A 14-day return policy with a defined list of exceptions, at least one fee-free payment method
- A privacy policy compliant with the Swiss FADP, with a cookie banner and data-subject rights
- Advertising compliance: email marketing only with consent, no misleading promises of winnings
The initial audit is carried out by an independent third party. Re-certification then takes place every three years via a self-declaration that is checked on a spot-check basis.
How to check whether it's genuine
- 1Click the seal – it should lead to a record at the association.
- 2Look the shop up in the official list of certified retailers and check the certification date.
A real certificate or just an image?
A genuine seal leads, on click, to a valid certificate that names exactly this shop. A fake, by contrast, is just a logo – with no working proof.

HANDELSVERBAND.swiss keeps an overview of certified online retailers with the date of the most recent certification.
Swiss Online GarantieA seal with no entry in the official retailer list – or with a heavily outdated certification date – should be reported to HANDELSVERBAND.swiss.
Switzerland has two separate seal families: the membership-based “Swiss Online Garantie” and the independently audited “swiss.certified” (zertifizierte-shops.ch, over 80 criteria, annual audit). Do not confuse them.
Quick check for any seal
These four points apply regardless of the provider.
Click on the seal
A genuine seal is always linked and leads to a certificate page at the provider. If the logo is just an image and not clickable, the most important proof is missing.
The certificate must name this shop
The destination page must explicitly show the shop you came from – with the matching domain. A generic “valid” with no reference to the specific shop is not enough.
Look it up in the official list
Every reputable provider keeps a public, searchable list of certified shops. If the shop is missing there even though it displays the seal, that is a clear warning sign.
Check the status and date
Check the certificate status (valid / revoked) and the date. Expired or revoked certificates do not count – nor do seals from programmes that no longer exist.
Does a shop carry this seal – rightfully?
Our fake-shop check automatically detects seals without a valid certificate link – together with over 30 more trust signals.
