Who is behind Fakeshop AI
We rate online shops, and your money depends on that rating. So this page says who runs it, how it works, who pays for it and where it reaches its limits.
Who runs the site
Fakeshop AI is a product of QAD Soft. The operator and the person responsible for the content is Dennis Bölling, Gütenbach. He founded Fakeshop AI and is responsible for all blog articles and guide pages.
Why the site exists
If you hesitate in front of an unfamiliar online shop, you should see within seconds whether you can order there, and be able to read what the verdict rests on. The check is free for consumers, needs no sign-up and runs without ads.
How we check
40 check modules in eight feature groups evaluate publicly available information, including the legal notice, commercial register, payment methods, warning lists and experience reports. The result is a verdict (Danger, Suspicious or No major warning) and the reasons behind it. We do not order or pay anything.
Where AI is involved
Language models are involved in the assessments. They read page texts and legal notice details, summarise experience reports from the web search and phrase individual reasons. Texts written by a language model carry the label “AI text” (Art. 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). Fixed rules calculate the trust score; the language models' assessments are inputs to these rules.
A person does not review every single assessment before it appears. Research and drafts of the blog articles are produced with AI support, and every statement is checked against the original source before publication.
What the check cannot do
A result shows the state on the check date. It has these limits.
- Data gaps
- If a query fails, the point is marked “Unclear”. Missing data is not an all-clear: with thin data we do not know, and we say so.
- No major warning
- The verdict means we found no serious warning signs in what we checked. It is not a recommendation or purchase guarantee.
- No test orders
- What only happens after an order, we know only from reports by others.
- Assessment
- The result is an automated, non-binding assessment. Language models can be wrong even when a text sounds convincing.
If a rating is wrong
As the operator of a checked shop you can object using the form, with domain, company name, email address and a short reason. A person reviews every case. An objection does not change the trust score automatically. If the review shows a mistake, we correct the result.
How the project is funded
The check is free for consumers. Operations are paid for by offers for merchants (shop seal and brand protection), the evidence dossier and the interface for developers, which is billed in credits. Voluntary contributions add to that.
Nobody buys their way out. No shop can buy a better result. The live seal only reads the check result and lapses if the shop fails. A voluntary contribution does not change a verdict, a rating or a ranking either.
